New graduate students orientation is scheduled on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm in TCCW 129. It is a mandatory meeting.

Fall 2009 proficiency test is scheduled on Saturday, September 12.
Students (except those in CS 476G) must register for the examination by August 28th.

Two students from Computer Science sucessfully passed their thesis defenses. Mr. Gyuchoon Cho is supervised by Dr. Emam. His thesis title is "Real Time Driver Safety System". He passed the thesis defense on April 29, 2009. Mr. Pengpeng Lin is supervised by Dr. Huanjing Wang since Spring 2008. His thesis title is "A Framework for Consistency based Feature Selection". Penpeng passed thesis defense on April 5 and will pursue a Ph.D degree at the University of Kentucky starting from Fall 2009.

Four students from Computer Science were honored at the Ogden College Awards Ceremony April 19th. Arun Kumar Reddy Guna received the award as the Outstanding Graduate Student. Ian Burchett received the award as the Outstanding Senior. He also received the Outstanding Potential Computer Science Professional award from the WKU student chapter of the ACM. Wesley Peden received the award as Outstanding Junior. Ei C. Aung (not pictured) received the award as the Outstanding Sophomore.
We wish them all success in their continued studies and professional careers.

Computer Science will have several new laboratories and classrooms in the building, which is expected to be ready for Fall 2009.

About 40 students from several regional High Schools came to Bowling Green April 3rd to compete in the Department's annual programming contest. The top three teams succeeded in solving at least 4 of the problems posed. Here are the results:
1st Place: Nelson County HS Team 4:
Bryan Knowles, Jacob Jones, and Garrett Thompson
2nd Place: Warren Central HS Team 2:
Timothy Lim, Matt King, and Jared Ray
3rd Place: Apollo HS Team 1:
Dillon Riecke, Westley Eklund, and Travis Harris
